Is there any possible way to make this a user preference (perhaps for premium users)? I really enjoyed the previous method, especially when using larger fonts.

Just curious!
Thanks in advance,

This is nearly impossible to read, probably because it's so close together now. The old format was much easier to read.

Agreed. Actually, I'd like to see the "last post by" column also displayed on the page of threads you've replied to, that would be very helpful as well.

Although, as with other things, I'm sure we could get used to it, if we really had to. (That said by someone who still scrolls to the bottom of a thread for the 4 navigation buttons that used to be there, as opposed to the admittedly much more convenient centrally placed floating ones -- some habits/preferences are most difficult to break.)

I am still playing around but I don't think "last poster" deserves its own column. Hard to see why a column of last usernames needs to be scanned vertically..

Is it possible to move it further to the right at all? It's all bunched together at the moment.

I might remove "last" and put in in a pop-out over the date. Evidently "by ..." does not need its own column so there is even less reason for "last poster" to need it, and since it is cluttered I'll just put it in a mouse over..

The reason for fiddling with this layout at all is to give more space to the topic title for browsers with less horizontal screen space such as the iphone browser. Trim off the un-necessary fat basically.

Why not just nix it altogether? if one wants to see who last posted they can click the little "e" thing or hit end on a thread without an e.

Yikes. It looks too "busy" with that information/links being so close together.

Ya far too cluttered, 2:20 am and I'm half asleep I nearly went cross-eyed. .

Really Nixing 'last post' would be just fine by me.

And for those of us who don't allow mouseovers on the site? But did look to see who last posted on something.....

And with all due respect, I realize it's your site, you can do what you want, but how many hits are you getting from browsers like the iPhone to warrant such a drastic format change? If it's really to get more spacing for the titles, and I would assume the date something was last updated, then why not most the who posted last to the last column on the right. The it doesn't take up room for the less horizontal screen browsers and those of us who actually look at the column can still use it.

Yes it is hard to read...at least for these old eyes.

I always scan the "last poster" column. If my ISP's staff have just posted to some thread, I know it is worth reading.

If it is a thread I have recently participated in, re-updating the list of threads and seeing my name being replaced by another person's tells me there is additional content to read.

And when you get to know the regulars in a forum, you can tell if one has recently participated in a thread of not.

Obviously we can't telel the operators how to run their web site. Just wish this were done as newsgroups where we could each have our own GUI and not be bothered by cumbersome HTML.

Justin, is this why the postlist, under the forum column, is right-adjusted? Or is it not suppose to be that way? Looks a bit out of place and adds more whitespace.

can't you detect os / browser versions and display special pages just for those sites?? like gmail does it... really simple to do :/

I was wondering about that myself. When I used the iPhone, websites such as CNN automatically displayed their "mobile" version without any user interaction.

It doesn't add any more white space, what was left adjusted is now right adjusted in that column. It just looks different..

Someone elsewhere posted:

"Knowing the last poster was very useful to me to see if amnyone had replied to topics I had last posted to. "

I'm always interested to see what unusual ways people have got used to to find information but this is a puzzle: the page »/postlist shows which topics have been replied to "that you last post to", and the blue arrow shows updates to topics you are reading, so I'm not sure why the last poster info was anything useful?

Sorry, I don't want to lears a gaizzlion different hidden pages I don't know about. I go to a forum, get the list of topics and want to decide on a single page which onces I should open (I then open each in a separate tab, which means I have to have javacript disabled otherwise it won't let me post because too many links already opened (those links to tell how many readers/posters in a thread).

I am old school, much prefer newsgroups to these HTML based forums.

I can't ask you to shape your service for me. It's your web site and you do as you wish.
