I would have to say I do not care for the changes, Let the Iphone users get use to the way it was...they surely can not be the majority of users here? I will keep my actual opinion of how it looks to myself! I found the last poster info very useful and would prefer it in the format it was in!
It worked fine on my iPhone the way it was; agreed with cyber sexy librarian!

I'm going to leave it as it is for a while, and work on some other stuff with the layout. There is lots of useful information that could be displayed: how long ago in minutes a topic was updated, how big the last post was, whether a mod or vip has posted in a topic, whether someone you 'follow' has posted yet or not, whether there are lots of deletes, if a topic was resurrected. I could go on.

One or more of these things could have been in from the start (instead of a clickable "last poster" name) and some people would have developed habits that involve checking for this, and would simply hate to see it go.

The only answer is a fully custom layout for logged in users where you select the columns you want to see - and maybe that is where it has to go.
Thanks for leaving it as it was for now. The last poster information was very important to me as well. As someone stated, I often skim and look for replies from people's opinion I value and read the thread, even if the thread isn't directly relevant to me.

The fully customizable layout seems like a lot of work, however.

I agree and I'm an iPhone user. It worked fine on the iPhone before anyhow. The zoom and slide features work great.

It's also easier for your eyes to follow the characters with the leading zero. You don't try to figure out what's wrong with the spacing.

The leading zero isn't the problem. The formatting is.

the leading zero should be a leading space and the numbers should line up vertically. there's no need to display the zero

The leading zero in the time stamp allows the time to line up regardless of what time it is -- it's aesthetically more pleasing that way, not clutter.
Based on the current presentation of the page, "lining up" and "aesthetically more pleasing" wasn't part of the decision.

in the Last Post column...

- kill the ordinal text "th" "st" etc. unnecessary.
- kill the leading zero on the time stamp...ditto

both are just clutter.
The leading zero in the time stamp allows the time to line up regardless of what time it is, to wit: 12:45 takes up the same amount of space as 04:37 -- it's aesthetically more pleasing that way, not clutter.

1) If you concern about space - change data / time format from (an example here):

16th Jul 08:36PM

to:

07-16 20:36

2) last poster column was important for me. Please keep it.

3) I do not think that asterisks pointing to user's info are important on fav page. I'd eliminate all of them as an extra unnecessary clutter.

Thanks

All of that and I think it should say this:

USERNAME on the first line
DATE OF LAST POST on the 2nd line

and why are some of the names in the last column clickable while most are not? and what does clicking the clickable ones yield you? I clicked my name on this thread and it gave me a mostly blank page.
They are clickable when they are threads you have participated in and there are unread posts AFTER the one you added. So, this is in essence "All new posts after your last one." I don't get it ... I usually like a few before and mine to do some rescan.

that right column looks "busy". I refuse to call my eyes "old" but they definitely dont work well these days

so the threadstarter's name isnt the link, the asterisk next to it is. curious as to why. i guess the eliminated column is why it looks busy and just not used to it. serves the purpose everyone is looking for (to know who was last there)

on a side note, that brighthouse asterisk looks like he came here and had a bunch of babies

I don't mind the Last Post column, though it makes the screen awfully wide, but the persistence of the asterisks is killing me. I think they're just keeping it out of spite at this point.

I have to concur with everyone else. I see zero improvements here...a clickable asterisk? How about a clickable pixel? Is this a mouse skills agility test? The popup info should be in a mouseover and the clickable name should be to the member's profile page.

The last column also looks messy and I agree with the others who are opposed to the changes.

I personally HATE the new Last look.

It looks crowded and like it was to make the site more 'web 2.0' in look.

Case of someone doing something for design vs function.

well, you still don't need the "last" username, because any topics you have posted to get blue arrows before the last-updated date, if they have new replies since you last opened them?
I bet somewhere there's a hidden page with a list of what all the various icons are supposed to mean.

Since you don't actually have to click the blue arrow rather anywhere in that column to get to new posts, would it not clean up that column to have the arrow in the left most spot.

Well, it is an old adage ... it normally sounds like this "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

I think that applies here. It's reasonable to add new functionality but the part that was changed to add new functionality wasn't broken.

As to the *'s after user names, could we not simply have clicked on the user name there ?
