The last poster/post column is odd. Putting the "From your last post" arrow after the last poster name before the date is just plain weird. This should be like the page counting option (1 2 3 e) like (1 2 3 e y) since it has nothing to do with the last post.
Then the last post should be name and date ... why the colon ? And I'd never noticed before 16th Jul 01:23 PM ... for space might it be better as 16 Jul 13:23 |

One thing that I think we are proving here is how much a UI preference is the result of habit and familiarity, which leads to the following old adage that I just made up  -- that often the best UI design is the one you already have!
Still, I agree with the last couple of comments and I think there are practical reasons for saying that "last poster" was perhaps better the way it was before, where I think it had its own column. By lumping it in with the date/time column, the eye has to scan a wider expanse of text to pick out the info you want. Before, poster name and date/time stood out more easily. I realize this is a pretty nit-picky point and I'm just glad to have the info displayed, but thought I'd mention it. So yes, I can see the point of those saying it was better the way it was before.

I think that applies here. It's reasonable to add new functionality but the part that was changed to add new functionality wasn't broken.
As to the *'s after user names, could we not simply have clicked on the user name there ? |

Since you don't actually have to click the blue arrow rather anywhere in that column to get to new posts, would it not clean up that column to have the arrow in the left most spot. |

I have to concur with everyone else. I see zero improvements here...a clickable asterisk? How about a clickable pixel? Is this a mouse skills agility test? The popup info should be in a mouseover and the clickable name should be to the member's profile page.
The last column also looks messy and I agree with the others who are opposed to the changes. |

that right column looks "busy". I refuse to call my eyes "old" but they definitely dont work well these days 
so the threadstarter's name isnt the link, the asterisk next to it is. curious as to why. i guess the eliminated column is why it looks busy and just not used to it. serves the purpose everyone is looking for (to know who was last there)
on a side note, that brighthouse asterisk looks like he came here and had a bunch of babies

So, this is in essence "All new posts after your last one." I don't get it ... I usually like a few before and mine to do some rescan. |

I would have to say I do not care for the changes, Let the Iphone users get use to the way it was...they surely can not be the majority of users here? I will keep my actual opinion of how it looks to myself! I found the last poster info very useful and would prefer it in the format it was in! |
