Can't give more details because to be honest I wasn't really listening, as I thought to myself what's the point if they throttle the speed anyways. |

Has anyone confirmed this offer? I don't think many care.
a 2 year contract with bell for anything is asking for trouble and I think you know this.
besides they don't gaurantee anything. When you get into that 2 year contract and you end up with 7 meg or 3 meg it will cost you over 200$ in early termination fee's.
2 year contract with Bell is asking for trouble. |
|
 | reply to ardo In addition, Bell makes the claim that their network can't handle the current load and thats why they are throttling.
If they can't handle the current network load now how the f*ck are they going to handle an increase to 16-meg?
The throttle will be 24/7, congested and very high latency.
Whats will be throttled next? Utube?
I would stay far far away from this since Bell themselves claim their network can't handle what they currently have. |
|
 | reply to BellPromoQQ It's really not much of a deal if you have to lock yourself into a contract for it, especially for 2 years. --

 | reply to BellPromoQQ Seems I'm not the only one who thinks this is BS and another bell trap to lure users into a multi-year contract then change contracts again.

"If the 5% who allegedly caused the throttling action now use an average speed of about 3.5-mbps, how the heck will it stand up to 5% using 16mbps?
"Can someone please explain the logic here?"
How does increasing speed more than three-fold at the same cost fix Bells severely congested network?
When this rumour was pointed out to Rocky Gaudrault, co-owner and CEO of Teksavvy Solutions Inc (www.teksavvy.com), one of the wholesale ISPs being throttled by force by bell Canada, he had this to say:
Its easy to promise something for whatever price if you dont have to deliver on the demand
.. 16Meg connections throttled 1/3 of the day (the part when youre actually home and not sleeping)
. Sounds like a good profit centre proposition to me!

The problem with this offer is that since Bell has a hard time giving 5/7 service to a lot of customers I can't see a lot of people qualifying for 16. |
|
 | reply to BellPromoQQ this offer is really tempting...im getting full 7mbps with bell sympatico internet now...if this offer is true, i will be sure to sign up for it. |

DSIT ConsultantPremium join:2007-01-19 Thunder Bay, ON 1 edit | reply to BellPromoQQ ADSLv1 vs ADSLv2 goes by different type of paths.
ADSLv1 is ATM based and ADSLv2 isn't and can handle more of a load then ATM.
ATM being the network that is far more expensive and too old to maintain and keep up-to par, so saying that 16meg will be worse then 5Meg isn't true. As long as a persons line can physically support it, then there shouldn't be any problem.
If throttling becomes apparent, just log off and back on the PPPoE session. -- Bell Sympatico - Total Internet Max - 16 Mbit Connection Download Speed: 13903 kbps (1737.9 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 883 kbps (110.4 KB/sec transfer rate) |
