By your question, it seems you're new to BT, so I'll give you the easiest solution. If you're not, don't take it personally, lol. when you use BT, you need a port open (or a router that knows to automatically open/close ports as required "UPnP") for people to talk to you. *explanation of BT tech, skip if you already know* BT works by saying "I'll give you this piece if you give me that piece." With your port closed, you're sending the messages out, and the replies are coming back fine. The problem is the opposite - when another client offers YOU a piece, the door is shut and they can't get the msg to you, so its a one-sided process. (At least in terms of the whole system) With the port open data flows freely both ways without requiring your client to initiate everything. Thus, it goes faster. *end explanantion*
For easiest instructions on opening the port, go to »portforward.com/english/routers/···ndex.htm and find your router. That's an excellent site, it has step-by-step instructions for almost all models you can find today. |

| Thx a bunch recneps! Ok so I've downloaded the latest beta version of uTorrent and Followed the instructions on PerVices' pdf. Currently the pc if plugged directly to the Speedtouch 516 modem... and I've been told taht it acts as firewall in addition to the infamous windows firewall.
Any who, so here are the results so far, I've just from 5kb/s to a whopping 24kb/s. Ok, ok, so it's not crazy but it's a whole lot better, any ideas how to improve on that ?
Also, have you guys heard any good or bad on www.torrentprivacy.com/ .... apparently some Russian company that encrypts everything in and out...
Ahhh... If Bell only knew he would be rolling in his grave. |
