| Help picking new car radio,
 sweet but not. :( |
Ive been looking all over for a new radio for my car, but I have not found one that has everything I want. This is the closet I have found, its by Alpine, »www.alpine-canada.com/US-en/prod···iDA-X100
I want a radio that looks and has similar features, but it seems Alpine wants you to buy all the things separate like an hd-radio device. But I can find ton's of other radios that have this kind of stuff built-in with no need to buy an external device.
Things im looking for: USB port (for flashdrives and such) AUX input Ipod support HD-Radio built-in Built-in cross-over (or close to something like this, alpine has it in most of their decks)
Any questions just ask. Any help will be greatly appreciated. --

| reply to DaMaGeINC My Sirius unit didn't play any of the FM HD Radio, nor would it play input from an iPod. But I did buy a nice radio that has most of the features you want, from Best Buy. It was pretty cheap, under $150 I think, but it was their own brand, basically a generic. I think it was called an Insignia but don't hold me to that. But their brand was one of the few I could find, for any price, which had an HD Tuner built into it, which is a nice feature.

| reply to DaMaGeINC You need to work on compromise.
Many cheaper radios may have one or two of the features built in (like iPod support or HD-Radio) but the higher-end units are all going to be modular.
From what i've read, flash/USB drive support on most decks is horrible and not even worth your time. iPods are much better supported.
HD Radio on many radios is going to be a separate module. Aux Input may likely be the same, or require an adapter wire. (Like many Pioneers)
The built-in crossovers you'll see on many high-end units.
They don't design very many 'all in one' systems because most often people aren't going to buy them. It's much more sensible to do things in a modular fashion. |

| reply to DaMaGeINC I have the KDC-MP438U from Kenwood. The usb port on the front handles my 8GB PNY thumb drive perfectly. »www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entertain···C-MP438U -- Bowling: It's cleaner than baseball. |

| reply to hep cat We have the MP338, and after using it, you notice some shortcomings. Such as only being able to see Music Title, or Artist, but not both when listening to XM. If I had to choose again, I would go with a better model.
I ended up using a ipod dock that plugs into the Aux. port on the 338. |

| reply to DaMaGeINC I'm looking for a good radio with similar requirements, but I also want bluetooth. I really like that Alpine deck you posted, but the damn BT module is another $200. That's ridiculous, and that seems to be an average price for other decks that have the add-on BT modules. It seems cheaper to find a deck with it built-in.
There's a Valor deck that looks pretty decent, and Parrot is releasing a pretty cool deck in a couple of weeks that I hope to see some reviews on. |
