Re: DGL-4500 NEW Firmware 1.10 Released

Nice find, thanks dude. Hopefully there's other small minor improvements also. I'm coming form 1.03 right now.

Edit: Just tried it out. Seemed to change the MAC address, and therefore the Cable modem couldnt establish a connection. I suggest you don't use this firmware!

I tried reverting my router back to 1.03, but it said it was incompatible. I'm not sure what I'm going to do now! But, don't use this firmware!

It doesn't accept either the old firmwares or anything.

I fixed my connection by simply copying the MAC address into the Network settings. And it seems to work then. But nothing else after that. Kind of disappointed in this. I really hope they can come up with a fix for it, cause this is very very unacceptable. Firmwares that they release should NOT be bricking routers like this.

Since your MAC address changed all you have to do is reset your cable modem. Just unplug your router and cable modem and wait about 1 minute then plug the cable modem back in and wait till it is connected then plug in the router and it should work.

Just so you know every time you change the Mac Address or use a new router you always have to reset the modem. The firmware is most likely fine.

Bud, no..

The MAC address on the ROUTER physically changed. It's a completely invalid MAC address. Therefore, it could not connect.

WAN:
MAC Address : 00:03:64:00:01:23
LAN:
MAC Address : 00:03:64:00:01:24

That's what it said. It did NOT work. Go try it out for yourself.

I can change my address over and over and it connects after I reset my modem. Try putting this MAC Address and see if it works then

Okay, you still aren't getting it...

After upgrading the firmware, it physically changed the MAC address. It's an invalid address, hence why I had to manually change it to what was on the sticker, on the bottom of the router.

It set it to what I had posted up above...

I manually changed it where you can clone the address...in the WAN settings.

Let me know if that finally makes sense to you. And you should try out the firmware also. It might play nicer with PPPoE and FiOS.

I got ya Too much Red wine is talking for me

My Fios isn't PPPOE its DHCP and the only the older installs of Fios have PPPOE as far as I know and all the new installs should be DHCP.

The firmware seems stable, and I get less errors via Wireless with my 3945 ABG, however...just that one quirk with the MAC address is very discerning.

I'm glad it finally made sense to you.

It's even worse now that I can't flash back to an older firmware such as 1.02 or 1.03. It gives me an error and says it's incompatible.

I had the same thing when I tried to go back to an older firmware.
