ZyWall 2 firmware 3.62(WK.18)C0

ZyXel has released WK.18 firmware with DDNS and Content Filter fixes. It is an official final release, but you'd have to mail ZyXel if you want it. It has been released to beta testers community and it's under discussion whether ZyXel will publish it to FTP site due to product being phased out.

Shoot me a PM with your e-mail and I'll send it to you or mail ZyXel directly.

Here are all the fixes from release notes:

(2) Reboot ZyWALL2, after 5 minutes, PC in LAN can’t ping the ZyWALL5’s LAN port 200.0.0.2.
(3) Change a parameter on WAN IP, eg. change RIP direction as NONE , click “Apply”
(4) Change the parameter back to Both, press “Apply”. Now the ZyWALL2 will send packets out through WAN port normally and thus the PC in LAN can ping the LAN port of ZyWALL5

Why not just put it on their FTP site but say the product is no longer supported? I think 2X owners, such as me, realise this.

does anyone know if there's a firmware upgrade for the 6mbps limitation of the zywall 2? Pretty much makes my firewall useless when it's being capped.

I suspect the 6Mbps is a hardware limit. I just bought one because it was only $20 new and my line is 6M/384K and I don't anticipate needing more. I even get the full throughput on a new P-314 I paid 99 cents for with only a 10Mbps WAN port! If you need more sell it for the $10 its worth and get a plus or a NBG334W if you don't need VPN? You can't expect a $10 router to work well with upper-tier service!

It's HW limitation.

Look at ZyWall 2Plus or 2WG for better throughput.

Upon my inquiry ZyXel didn't made any objections regarding distribution of this firmware so I guess it's OK to post it for benefit of others.

Enjoy
