| Difference between CD and LPCD?
What is the difference between CD and LPCD? The reason why I am asking is because I have recently purchased a music album by a Taiwanese artist that comes in both normal CD and LPCD. The CD contains 16 tracks, and the LPCD contains 10 "LPCD versions" of the 16 tracks.
The songs on the CD sound beautiful and flawless. However, the LPCD version of the songs sound comparatively much more hollow and worse (for lack of a better adjective). I can even hear a bit of distortions on some songs. I am baffled. Is this the nature of LPCDs? Google searches yielded nothing other than information on converting vinyl LPs.
Any ideas? -- "People say that money isn't the key to happiness, but I always figured if you have enough money, you can have a key made." -Joan Rivers |

| iZotope Vinyl SoundForge Plugin | iZotope Vinyl Screw Removal |
Some good info here: »jimmyauw.com/2007/05/23/lpcd-a-n···uctions/ It seems like an attempt to make digital recordings sound more like the analog LP's of days gone by. Many audiophiles prefer the sound of a good vinyl recording over the brighter, harsher digital sound.
[EDIT] On a side note, I like to play with the free iZotope Vinyl plugin (see above) which emulates the sounds of not-so-well cared for vinyl LP's. You can even remove the screws on the front panel to see what makes this thing work. »www.izotope.com/products/audio/vinyl/ -- N.Y. Giants - Super Bowl XLII Champions |

CoolEdit, if I recall, like Adobe Audition, has an option to scan for DX plugins on the menu. If not, I'm sure you can manually copy the .dll file from the iZotope Vinyl directory into the CoolEdit plugins folder.
[EDIT] Attached (right-click/Save Target As) is a Vinyl processed sample which I made to sound like a lo-fi, scratched 1950's 45 RPM record. -- N.Y. Giants - Super Bowl XLII Champions |
