| Swapping out old Westell 327w A90 model for newer D90.
Hello 
Maybe someone can help me out or point me in the right direction. I have been searching all over the internet, FAQs and guides. While I have learned a great deal about routers, tricks and a lot of other things, there are still a lot of things that leave me in question.
I currently have a Westell 327w router (model number: A90) with Verizon as my Internet service provider. I rarely ever had any problems connection to the internet with it till recently. The past two weeks it just seems to be getting worse and more random when the internet cuts out. From minutes to long hours now.
I know and understand that it can be several things that could be causing this. From possible construction (which I am sure there is none, near around going on) to possibly the modem/router combo going bad.
The main question I have.
1. The Westell 327 A90 I am currently using now is fairly old. I’ve had it for over 4 years give or take. Not to long ago, I had received a newer Westell 327w model D90. I am suspicious that the one I am using now is going bad. Is it possible to swap out my old model and use the recently new one I have? Do you recommend I should?
When I tried doing so last night, I wasn’t able to connect to the internet at all. Do I need to renew my IP address or do something in particular?
2. Another question I have of the reasons maybe the internet is going out is because it’s unsecured. I do live in an apartment and I know for a fact that my wireless is unsecured. Reason being is because of my Xbox360. It is beyond a nightmare to try and setup Xbox live with the wireless being secured.
Is it possible by leaving my internet unsecured, that it’s getting hammered on and cutting out my internet?
