[Equipment] SS 4200 bridge mode

How do you turn SS 4200 into a simple bridge? Previously I had SS 5200 and if you wouldn't supply credentials it would switch into a bridge. With 4200, there is "Windstream" user by default and no way of clearing it.

That looked like it should work but it didn't (The router couldn't get connected) I then went into WAN Interface and switched it into bridge mode manually. Now if they could just provision the line for 12Mbps

It depends on which 4200 that you have:

[A] The older/original 4200 and all 5200 versions.

»Efficient Networks Forum FAQ »How do I change into Bridged Mode on the 4100/4200?

[B] The new "Walled Garden" 4200 that stores your
Username/Password remotely. You change it manually on the page below.

»192.168.254.254/brgmode.htm

There is no need in either case to have to alter the settings in the 4200/5200 for the WAN Virtual Circuit settings as the Modem is by default a Bridge-Router.

There needs to be a Windstream FAQ started for this Forum.

Well, I have the "new" 4200 and (as I mentioned above) going to »192.168.254.254/brgmode.htm didn't work. The DSL light was on but the router could not connect.
At this time my connection is down (they are adding more tubes to support 12mbps) but as soon as it is up I will try again and post the results.

It's on! I got finally provisioned to 12Mbps (the modem actually says 14000000/766000) and everything works as expected.
I tried the 192.168.254.254/brgmode.htm and this time it worked! So it must have been some kind of combination of WS provisioning the line and an intermittent outage in my area.

Thank you all for your suggestions,
Lac
