Hi guys, I need some help. I got a laptop with a blu ray player in it so that I could watch blu ray movies. I bought powerdvd 8 so that I could watch them and it works great. Is there anyway I could copy the movie onto my hard drive that way I don't have to keep using the blu ray drive, and also so if I borrow movies from friends I would always be able to have them on my PC instead of asking again and again for them?
thx. |

#1 Greyed out | #2 select the BIG m2ts file, that is the main movie | #3 Hellboy playing |
AnyDVD HD will rip the BD to your HDD - BUT... playing back the BD is a crapshoot. Playing it back just as a BD would play has been disabled. You point PowerDVD at the BDMV folder but "Ok" stays greyed out(it doesn't work). See pic #1
You *CAN* point PowerDVD at the individual m2ts files in the STREAM folder and they will play. Problem is, they may be defaulted to the 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound audio track. Some/most will play fine with stereo sound(laptop), others... See pic #2
The Hellboy 36GB m2ts file plays(paused for screenshot) - one of the BDs with m2ts files that will play with stereo sound on a laptop. See pic #3
EDIT: NOTE: BDs are big! Hellboy is 46GB on the HDD.

| reply to TriggerHappy wonder if a PS3 would see BD directories on a HDD and play them. would be an interesting setup, 1TB drive on the USB(if USB2 has the bandwidth that is)BDroms ripped with AnyDVD/DVDfab and if it would work you would have a "ghetto" blu-ray changer. -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports |

| I'm guessing a PS3 would be like any other BD player. They play CD/DVD/BD discs, not files on some external storage device. Interesting thought, though. -- N.Y. Giants - Super Bowl XLII Champions |
