I really only hit on this site randomly when searching for information about World of Warcraft. Not sure if it was a specific sort of thing and a Google search picked it out or what exactly drew (pun? :)) me in.

To be honest I didn't even see the rest of the site until about 2 weeks after I first came here. I'd look at all of the WoW stuff I could get, reply to some, add information, ask for help ... and sign off.

Now I'm posting photos, commenting on various pictures, reading about my at-home local ISPs, and so many other things other than WoW.

I'd bet I'm not the only one, so whatever can get someone to come here is great ... but like anything it's what can keep them coming back that counts! This site has done that for me, and even though I love it, many things *do* need a graphics makeover (such as the logo).

Which, of course, is what this thread is about ... so I'll shut up now.

The site encompasses info on broadband, ISPs, reviews but then there are all the other tech forums, hardware, software, brand specific stuff, gaming forums, not to mention the chats.

While DSLR is not a portal like Yahoo - God forbid - it is bigger than broadband for sure especially once you get past the front page and into the forums.

The name, in a way, limits that actuality, so the tag line really has to wrap it up and explain the "more" part.

I like the background on Dreadwing's, the text on drew's, and the shape of the current. I'll try something in a minute, but I'm going to have to admit right now that it'll look cheesy compared to what you guys have :D.

EDIT: Nevermind on my attempt, I can't make anything with shadows and whatnot on Paint and I'm not going to get to my laptop anytime soon. Perhaps when I get to my laptop I'll try ;).

I agree it is clunky.

The best motto (at least to me) is "Know your ISP" which pretty much sums up the purpose of the site, unfortunately it is taken already by the australian broadband user community. But perhaps that isn't an issue. Different countries.

How so? The logo is simply advertising the URL (dslreports.com), while Broadband is displayed above the URL to define the website. This is a broadband website, not limited to DSL. Cable, wireless, FiOS, satellite, etc., have nothing to do with DSL.

The logo is probably not solely used on this website, but also used in prints, advertisements, links, etc.

One would think that you want the viewer of the logo to see the URL and get a good idea of the contents of the website. It's probably "bad" enough that the URL contains DSL, but to have the logo give more weight to it, adds to it.
