You know this for sure do you?
I have seen countless tests in small market areas that have never made it anywhere. Why would this be any different.

| reply to hobgoblin If you have evidence to indicate they WON'T roll it out nationwide under the terms described above, then pony up.
We wouldn't even know about Beaumont if it hadn't been leaked. But I'm sure they didn't want anyone to know about that because they were afraid so many customers would be scrambling for THEIR 40GB caps too because that's something every customer wants. -- Tradition: Just because you've always done it that way doesn't mean it's not incredibly stupid. --despair.com |

Because this "test" is anti-consumer. People are rightfully paranoid that changes NOT in their favor are going to come their way.
Besides, part of this "test" is to judge customer response. We're just giving TW corporate what they're asking for.

no what you're giving twc is a reason to ignore you. Since all this site seems to do is bitch and cry about the way they do business.
you want faster internet they offer powerboost. they even meantion one word about caps and then all of a sudden you don't want faster internet but you don't want caps.
well this site needs to make up their damn mind or shut up.
and what you want is not what other customers want that doesnt use this site. |

I would terminate my Comcast service in a minute because their customer service is consistently horrible when I have to call them. | reply to hottboiinnc How are caps anti-consumer? Do I really have to answer that question?
They're not mutually exclusive. Higher speeds or powerboost is terrific. Good job, atta boy!
But whatever happens, we definitely don't want caps.
These things are related because higher speeds means potentially greater consumption, which would encourage TWC capping. Given a choice, I'd prefer to keep my current speeds and not have to worry about a meter. -- Laser eye surgery rocks! I love frickin' laser beams. |

| reply to hottboiinnc Unless you can prove they won't implement those caps, then the assertions in your earlier post aren't necessarily correct. However, you're right about one point, and as I've said in other posts, if they implement such a ridiculously low cap, I most certainly will walk. -- Tradition: Just because you've always done it that way doesn't mean it's not incredibly stupid. --despair.com |

| reply to hottboiinnc I believe if they mentioned "one word" about 300GB caps, people wouldn't be so concerned. 40GB is ridiculous, and most people in this forum realize that.
I think many have made up their mind. 40GB is pathetic and it does little good to have sooper-fast-roadrunner-kinda-like-fiber-speed-boosted-speeds if you hit that freaking 40GB cap in 2 days and have to spend the next 28 days paying excessive usage fees.
But I digress. TWC can do what they want. At least I'm fortunate to have alternatives--many aren't. If they cap me at 40GB/month, they'll be minus one more customer. It doesn't mean I'm going to be silent while they do it however. -- Tradition: Just because you've always done it that way doesn't mean it's not incredibly stupid. --despair.com |

| reply to hobgoblin Hobgoblin,
I have seen countless tests in small market areas that have never made it anywhere. Why would this be any different. I live in Texas, and I've worked in Beaumont. It is a small community with few "New Subscribers". I think that someone might be rigging the test. If they really what to know what the consumers reaction was going to be they would try this test in Houston, Dallas, or Fort Worth Texas where there are millions of people with other options like Verison DSL, AT&T, FIOS, Direct TV Internet, etc.
I don't know if there is some motivation is for doing the test in that community; but, I think it is going to give deceptive results. |

| reply to fireflier 400 caps and people wouldnt be concerned? HAHAHAHA!
Comcast said 250Gigs and received a beating on here because "its too low" but people bitched when they wouldnt give you an amount!
This site does nothing but bitch about the a business does business.
If any of you can build your own ISP nationwide ISP and make everyone on here happy i'll shut my mouth. But until then I don't it happening.
And the "many" that have made up their mind are the ones on here. Otherwise customers could probably couldn't give a shit as most probably don't even do that. |

| reply to A847930 Good point. Yes, it's a city of 114k or so. But a quarter of the city is literally slums. Only a small slice of Beaumont even cares about things like this (I know, I live in that slice).
One point I want to add - Not ALL Texas markets got powerboost. Beaumont, for example, has not received PowerBoost. God forbid they give stepchild Beaumont - which already has caps for new customers - any kind of speed increase.

| reply to hottboiinnc Actually I said "people wouldn't be as concerned". not that they wouldn't be concerned at all, however there's a big difference between 40GB and 400GB (besides just a factor of 10). Namely it's the difference between making use of various VOD services within the included monthly price and having to pay extra because someone doesn't want outside competition. -- Tradition: Just because you've always done it that way doesn't mean it's not incredibly stupid. --despair.com |

| reply to djrobx If you don't want caps then prepare to pay more for your HSI and don't bitch about it.
Cause when someone starts to suck up more than what they should and kill the node/dslam or what ever someone is going to pay to put more bandwidth to the equipment or split it and you bet the ISP/Operator isn't going to eat the cost. |
