I had the same issue last night, which turned out to be a routing problem caused by routine maintenance in the area. Everything was up and running again a few hours later.

I'm in SE CT, not on Uverse just regular DSL but it has to be related. Good idea to try with the proxy, that I had not thought of. I have the same results, I can get through with one of the web proxies, but it times out when I try to navigate normally. Also had problems with easynews, snapfiles, and myspace.com
