MTU=1500 for the wired connection, and probably the wireless (though some routers use jumbo frames and other techniques to improve throughput that may work better with different settings)
It's not suprising to get lower throughput wirelessly nor that it varies inversely to the distance, especailly with weak but known interfering WLAN's and maybe phone.
encryption of any type adds additonal overhead.
3.1 is telling you something about that router, can you test that again with the wireless shut off (should be somewhere in the router config to disable WLAN)
