| [Firmware] Finding a firmware that...
Hey everyone, I've extensively used searchs (google's+forums) with no luck, so I'm posting. By the way... great forum guys.
Scenario:
FACT.- Me and the people (10 regulary, 25/30 when LAN Parties) currently using the house right now have many desktops/(sub)notebooks/PDAs/(smart/i)Phones and all kind of (sometimes not-so)usefull gadgets... that requires some kind of connection, and for now I'm responsible for resources sharing. Now, beliveme it's a fuc*ing nightmare to get this working (ie, forward ports/NAT/UPnP/QoS/printers), so I beg for help in here.
FACT.- Une bridged DSL modem with one WRT54GL router, one desktop acting as "server" for printers and storage, connected via LAN... everything else is connected wireless (we have boosters, no problems there)
FACT.- Everyone is aware of virtual security, each one takes responsibility for himselfs and others with FireWalls/Anti-everithing (Mixed OS enviroment *nix/Redmond)
FACT.- I know it's much to ask but...
I'm searching (one week so far, as I type) for a firmware to put into my shiny new WRT54GL that:
MANDATORY a) Have an (not hardware) option/hack/mod to COMPLETELY DISABLE the firewall (No DMZ!!! disable the whole thing aka NO FILTERING IN ANY WAY).
MANDATORY b) Let me SSH the router, with RSA-key auth to make a tunnel and use that as a SOCKSv5 proxy (one connection to the router, then the router makes multiple connections)
MANDATORY c) DDNS with no-ip.com
Would be nice if let me turn off QoS, WoL, CIF, etc, and pretty much everything... in other words: "Switch on/off stuff whenever I want".
Some days this will be the config:
- PPPoE on - DDNS on - SSH on - Firewall, Wireless and everything off
That's because sometimes the house is alone and JUST the modem and router are ON so... I don't need all other things, and every gain in performance that I can squeeze from the router to use on the SSH is my goal.
And sometimes the config gets really complex:
- PPPoE on - DDNS on - SSH off - Firewall off - Wireless on - DHCP on - QoS on - CIFS on
I've read a lot about (almost) every firmware, but I cannot say that I've found what I want. So if you help me I've send a pretty girl as a way of gratitude.
Lol, no really... thanks in advance.
