Hector Ruiz, "The man who killed AMD" is quitting....

Like the Rat abandoning the sinking ship, Hector Ruiz stepping down as CEO from AMD. Now's it time for him to take his golden parachute and bail, for the company he's leaving behind in circling the drain. Personally I hope AMD makes it....

... but I think it's too far gone now. Best it can hope for is to continue in name after it's sold off in bankruptcy, me thinks.

AMD isn't going anywhere. Sure, their processors aren't the top dawgs anymore, but they own ATi and they've got the low-end sector of the market for processors and such, and the high end (or at least some of it) for graphics cards. Heck, their Puma platform's integrated graphics are nothing short of awesome when you compare to Intel's stuff.

AMD is once again behind in the speed race for processor power, but they're making a comeback...

Said by a person who hasn't purchased any AMD hardware at all, but for the ATi graphics in his iMac...

They paid about 2.5 billion too much for ATI. They are buried in debt. They are loosing money.

Much as we'd like them to stick around.... It doesn't look good.
