The only reasons protections exist are workers got fed up with being fired for getting sick, being injured or killed on the job, etc. Hell, you should read Upton Sinclair's the Jungle. That'll make you realize just how lucky you are that unions exist. While I do think they have tended to get greedy, you'd better thank your lucky stars we have them. Otherwise, companies would be working you 7 days a week, paying little, and there'd be few worker protections. Someone had to force those changes, and that happened DUE TO UNIONS. |
