 | AT&T U-Verse is the worst I am going on line to as many sites as possible to tell as many people as possible about the horrible service I have received from AT&T. About 6 months ago I had someone come to my door to sell me on an AT&T bundle. My neighborhood had just been wired for AT&T and they had a great deal for phone, internet and cable. I agreed to switch with a $100 cash rebate for switching all 3 items. Well, where do I start.... 1. I never got the $100 rebate because my phone was never switched over. It was never switched over because when I went to do so, I was told that AT&T didn't have phone service in my area, even though they sold me the package! Oh well, didn't think much of it. Was a little pissed off, but I just kept my old phone service. 5 months later I found out my sister who lives 1 block away had also switched and did have phone service. I called them back and they said that the person I spoke with before must have made a mistake and that there was indeed phone service in my area!!!! (but too late to get the rebate if I switched the phone now!!!!) 2. I wasn't told that my TIVO service wouldn't work with U-VERSE! U-VERSE does provide one DVR per household only. I had TIVO on 3 TVs. Big change for me! So I was deceived again. 3. I have 3 HD TV's. I can only watch HD channels on one at a time! I was not told of this either!!!!! 4. I was told that I would have one months free service to alert people of my email address change automatically through their service. It turns out this service doesn't work on a Mac!!! I wasn't told of this either!!!!!! 5. My internet service with AT&T is slower than molasses and often doesn't work. I have to frequently restart my computer to reconnect to the internet. 6. The remote control for the TV is difficult to use and the DVR is lacking many key features that others such as TIVO have.
So in general, I am very disappointed with AT&T U-Verse service and am canceling my service with them and going back to Astound. I do not recommend this service to anyone!!! |

| You will be taken more seriously if you regsiter for the site. What area are you in?
I also suggest submitting a formal review. Those stick around and are reflected in the overall ratings for a given service. -- Laser eye surgery rocks! I love frickin' laser beams. |

1 edit | reply to catsglow 2. Get Tivo to support an IPTV platform and look for that to happen. I think only series 2 units will work since they have actual video inputs that can be plugged into a STB.
3. You can watch HD channels on as many TVs as you want, just not at the same time unless it is the same channel. The current profile being deployed is a 2/2 HD/SD stream profile. Meaning that you can have 2 HD streams going into your home at the same time.
4. "AT&T Yahoo! TrueSwitch does not currently support Apple Macintosh or Linux" - »www.trueswitch.com/sbc/help/faqs···irements
5. What tier do you have? What are your speedtests showing up as? |

6. The remote control for the TV is difficult to use and the DVR is lacking many key features that others such as TIVO have. I don't understand this gripe. What's so difficult about a remote control? Sure, it does lack a feature or two -- but "difficult to use"? My 92 year old neighbor with questionable eyesight, a bad hip, and a lengthy list of surgeries is able to use her U-Verse remote just fine. | reply to catsglow I am another dissatisfied customer, missing features, no I would say, missing basic fundamental functionality, such as being able to select screen size, audio mode, which channels are listed, on and on, how about a clock on the DVR, etc. etc. etc. |
|
 | reply to catsglow Crap I was going to skip this but you are wrong
MeanGeane: You can select the Screen size, you can even zoom it if you are using anything above SD Menu > options > system settings Aspect ration. Zoom: the zoom button on the remote.
Audio mode: same thing but select secondary audio
Which channel is are listed, its favorites, to add them: Menu > options Channel options (to the right) > favorites channels.
Now when you go into favorites it only lists what you pick. Now if you said no favorites button on the remote I'd be with you. |
|
 | You could even go as far as hiding channels from the main guide if you don't want to set up a favorites list. |
|
 | Now thats something new to me, how do you do that Koolkid? |

As soon as it is turned-on in the area of my new place, I'll be dumping Astound to go back to U-verse. It was so much better. |

Your big mistake was signing up for something from a door to door salesperson without doing your research. They will lie, cheat, and steal to get you to sign.
If you did your research you would have found you could get a better deal simply by ordering online from the AT&T website. You would have gotten your $100 rebate without having to sign up for the phone service.
Plus you would have found out that you could get VoIP phone service for 1/2 the price by signing up for AT&T CallVantage separately.
1. I never got the $100 rebate because my phone was never switched over. It was never switched over because when I went to do so, I was told that AT&T didn't have phone service in my area, even though they sold me the package! Oh well, didn't think much of it. yep... you should have gone through the order process online.. they would have told you about the lack of U-verse Voice.
2. I wasn't told that my TIVO service wouldn't work with U-VERSE! U-VERSE does provide one DVR per household only. I had TIVO on 3 TVs. Big change for me! So I was deceived again.
Did you specifically ask this question? Or did you just assume? Again a little research before signing up.
Another question is... why didn't you just cancel when the installer got there and told you your TIVOs would not work? Then you would have not been out any $$$.
3. I have 3 HD TV's. I can only watch HD channels on one at a time! I was not told of this either!!!!!
Again a very small amount of research would have told you this. By the way they have now increased this to 2 HD streams, it's being rolled out in stages across the country.
4. I was told that I would have one months free service to alert people of my email address change automatically through their service. It turns out this service doesn't work on a Mac!!! I wasn't told of this either!!!!!!
The best thing to do is NOT to use ISP's email addresses, because when you switch ISPs, you have to change your email, which is a pain. Use an email service like hotmail, Yahoo mail, or Google mail (gmail) -- then you'll have a single email address for life, and can use it with any ISP.
5. My internet service with AT&T is slower than molasses and often doesn't work. I have to frequently restart my computer to reconnect to the internet.
You have a fixable problem. You'd have to go through diagnosis and fix procedures to fix it. This is not a normal experience.
6. The remote control for the TV is difficult to use and the DVR is lacking many key features that others such as TIVO have.
Many people with TIVO are disappointed with any other DVR service. However, cable and satellite services do not come with TIVO any more, they require their own DVR. You can use TIVO but you won't get good integration with the service, and you'll probably pay more for a TIVO subscription. You pays your money and you makes your choice.
So in general, I am very disappointed with AT&T U-Verse service and am canceling my service with them and going back to Astound. I do not recommend this service to anyone!!! My advice is, try to be more thoughtful and do more research before you make a jump like this again. |
