Chugging along on 2x 6016/768k DSL Extreme DSL lines and one 6016/768 ATT DSL DIrect line as well as one 10mb/1mb Charter cable line for a combined total of just over 26 meg download and 3 meg up (after overhead). yay! |

Are you trying to troll? or are you trying to be cute? if you think that any of those things I said aren't already being done, or being talked about (being weighed) then you're totally out of the loop and your attempt to be cute by finding an exception to what is quickly becoming the new norm here isn't as cute as you think. |

Aren't international flights usually more profitable than domestic flights? Those will probably have less extra fees, but don't assume it will be that way forever...
The best part is, even if gas prices go down (and they will go down, though not soon- check back in 5-10 years, though), these fees will live on... and the airlines, being some of the most poorly run companies out there, will still go bankrupt again...
But you'll have your in-flight LTE-based broadband! (For the cost of $0.99 a minute, with a $10.00 WiFi access charge, in addition to the $15 Internet Access Recovery surcharge on your ticket price. Heavy data usage may incur additional usage-based fees.) |

Drop the per minute part and put in data limits.
Like $10 for access with 50 meg free and then $10 for each 100 meg block of data.

In all honesty, I don't even see why this is necessary. We've got airlines pulling entertainment system servers out because they weigh 200 pounds and they want to save on fuel. So, they want to put in internet systems so they can offer a service where most people won't purchase it.
The costs are going to be per segment. Many flights have a plane change as it is. Not to mention, can't people get along with out the internet for a couple hours? Travel is a chore.. you've got to get yourself from one place to another. During that time, relax.. do the traveling, and when you get to your destination, plug back in.
With an economy in the dumps for so many people, INCLUDING the airlines, I think they are investing money in a totally wrong area. |
