| Help with WinAVI v8
I'm trying to convert some AVI's into vob files so I can burn them on a DVD for my son. I downloaded WinAVI and the quality is amazing, but about 5 minutes in the video and sound lose sync.
The WinAVI website told me to update a codec pack and install DIVX. I did both and still have the problem. The original videos do not have any sync issues.
Can anyone suggest a resolution or another software to use, preferably a free one as I already spent money on this one and its not working.
Thanks. -- Um, maybe later? |

| reply to ToadisMcG Likely either the video frame rate or the audio bitrate is different during your encoding than from the original.
Make sure the video frame rates are the same. If that doesn't fix it, you'll probably have to manually make some adjustments in the audio synching.
And just because something can be done doesn't mean it's easy to do, btw.
I have no personal experience with the WinAVI program. |

| I have already changed the audio bitrate to match, but the program doesn't seem to have anything for the the video frame rate.
I tried a trial version of ConvertXtoDVD and it has the same problem on the videos. Maybe its just the videos. Just of out curiosity I tried to convert a 700meg video I d/l to dvd and both programs did it flawlessly.
Worst part is that I have 20 of these videos for my son and they all have the same problem on converting. -- Um, maybe later? |

Maybe both the input and output video frame rates on the 700MB file were set the same, but aren't on the other files?
I don't know-- as I alluded to, video conversions are not always the simplest things to do.
I have one myself-- an eight-part video I'm trying to convert to VCD. Everything seems to be proper and appropriate, all eight original parts are coded the same, parts 2 thru 8 all convert properly, yet I also lose audio synch during part 1.
It's freaking weird. I can't figure it out. And I can't re-synch the audio to make it jibe up at all times either, no matter what I do.
So . . . there you have it. I don't know what else to suggest for you, other than maybe try experimenting with different things.
Good luck with it. |
