| Westell 327W
Ok I have a bit of a problem. I connected my Westell 327W and Verizon.net DSL up to my computer, it connected to DSL and I can surf no problem. I set it up for wireless and it can see my two laptops around the house. One laptop can surf the internet no problem and the other one using windows wireless to connect shows a great connection but when I open explorer nothing happens. I shut off WEP protection just to make sure I hadn't screwed anything up. When I go to 192.168.1.1 and look at my wireless connections in the modem the one that works shows a red X and shows connection type unknown and the laptop that doesn't connect shows a green mark and shows wireless connection. I downloaded the manual and printed it out and the screen prints it shows looks nothing like my screen when I access the modem. What have I don't wrong?
I am using a Linksys card in my laptop that wont connect. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. I Used the Linksys software to try to connect and got the same problem. My other laptop is just using the built in Dell WiFi and it connected no problem. So the laptop that doesn't work can see the wireless connection, it connects to it but it doesn't get routed to the internet. I checked the IP addresses and I have three different ones so that looked correct.

| I would try the following:
a) Disable the wireless on the working Dell WiFI b) Install Linksys card on that Dell c) If you get the same results, you know its the card d) If it works, there is something going on with the non-working laptop

| I tried two cards plus one usb adapter, loaded all the drivers, they all connect but nothing happens. The lights all seem to blink really slow. I took the laptop over by the window and tried to connect to a neighbors unprotected network. it wouldn't connect to that either. My other laptop will. Wireless networking says it is connected with great flow rates but when I start Internet Explorer or Firefox nothing comes up. What software settings have I screwed up? I am going to go run a virus scan just in case. it was working just fine and then it quit. I think I have ruled out hardware so it must be a setting I screw up somehow. |

| reply to NyQuil Kid Update. Okay. I pulled the wireless cards and just did a direct connection with an ethernet cable. Everything says I'm connected but neither Internet Explorer or Firefox would connect to any web pages. Sounds like a software issue but where should I be looking? I can ping the router and I get the correct responses back using IPconfig /all and tracert. This works whether I have the wireless cards installed or using the ethernet cable. Still no web browser. I am running out of ideas. The router shows my laptop is connected. My other laptop is also connected and is running great. I turned it off and it didn't make a difference with the laptop that I'm having a problem with.
