[Troubles] SpeedStream 4100 set at 544 MAX Download NEED FIX

Hello, somehow my download speed has gone to pot in the last few days. I looked at my setting and I noticed that it shows a maximum download speed allowed at 544. I used to get 1250+ regularly until I tried to hook up a Direct TV network and since then everything has slowed down. I use ATT in Austin Texas and they advertise my line as 1500 which I used to get. Here are the settings:

Any help would be appreciated

beproud, who is your ISP? AT&T or Windstream?

If your ISP is AT&T then you are in the wrong forum but we can move you over to right forum. Are you still in Hanford, CA?

Disconnect the DirecTV.

So did your 1250+ return after removing it?

Your modem has trained down in speed. Have you power cycled (powered it off and then on after a few secs) it recently? Does that restore your speed to 1536? If you are having line problems, your modem may train down again after syncing at full speeds.

DirecTV makes a direct connection to your phone line, and this can seriously affect your DSL signal. I'm fortunately close enough to the RT that I'm not bothered by it, but you may need to add a filter to the DirecTV connection to keep it from swamping out the DSL signal.

If your DirecTV was installed by one of their people, it's making a direct connection at the NID (the gray box that separates your house wiring from the AT&T drop line), and you'll have to open up that connection and insert the filter. If you're not comfortable dealing with the wiring, you may need to have AT&T install a "home run" for your DSL to eliminate the need for any filters elsewhere -- but they'll charge you for it...

Incidentally, the same is true for burglar alarm systems. Neither my ADT nor my DirecTV connections are hurting my DSL signal, but I'm only some 900 feet from the RT that serves me so I have very good signal strength. Most installations are not so lucky.
