| [DD-WRT] Repeated restore necessary
ddwrt v24 on wrt54gs v1.1. This unit is set up as a client bridge and working very well. Except that every morning after the computer connected to it was off overnight the router requires a hard reset and restore to be up and running again. With the computer on there would be no issues all day. -- My grandkids ARE cuter than yours! |

| It just did it again today. I'll just have to give up on this thing. I was hoping someone here would know what may be causing this. I could at least sell it if I knew it wasn't a hardware issue. -- My grandkids ARE cuter than yours! |

| reply to PeeWee Having to reset it each time sounds pretty bad. Before you give up on it give Tomato a try. I have a Tomato router running in client bridge mode with WPA and have no problems. I don't know how well Tomato and DD-WRT would play together though, if that's what you're running on your other router. It's worth a shot anyway. |

| reply to PeeWee When you say "Restore" exactly what do you mean by that term? I understand the "Reset". If by restore you mean you have to restore any saved settings then that doesn't sound so good.
The one option I can think of in your case is to do a "Long Reset"(30 seconds) to restore the router back to defaults. Perhaps there is still some glitch remaining from the flash to v24. If that doesn't work I would even try reflashing it again using the approved procedures, i.e. Long Reset, Flash followed by another Long Reset. If that doesn't work you might try flashing to the last v23 firmware and see if it still happens. At least you may be able to narrow it down to hardware vs firmware issues. |

| I already like Tomato better. My router is now a hub for more than one computer without wds. I was disappointed to find the ddwrt could not do that. Now we wait to see if it dumps its settings with this firmware. -- My grandkids ARE cuter than yours! |

| reply to DrPepper Update. Tomato seems to be the answer. I like it better and it still works properly under same conditiions that caused problems before. -- My grandkids ARE cuter than yours! |

| reply to DrPepper Update! Tomato running client bridge and no lost settings. A previous version of DDWRT may have worked but I also didn't like the one computer limitation. Tomato, however runs well and allows up to four computers at the remote location. I have already tried two with no problems. -- My grandkids ARE cuter than yours! |
