[OK] Oklahoma speed increases?

I was told "mid-July" for the 15/1.5 upgrade on premier, as well as upload PowerBoost. Neither has appeared yet. Anyone have any idea when this will be happening?

Is that state wide or just the OKC area?

Not sure if it is related or not - however here in Tulsa, I've had one phone message and one postcard telling me that "upgrade" work will be carried out this coming week by contractors.. and that i should look for more information on my door ...

It also said that the work would be carried out at night .. (can't remember when exactly but I'm sure i remember between 2 and 5 am) .. I'm pretty sure that my dogs will have something to say about strangers being on my property at 3am ..

Hopefully the "notice" they leave on my door will be pretty specific and have contact info ...

That is most likely related to 1ghz plant upgrades, which have already been completed here.

Marky - You said you were told there was an increase in July?

I have not seen any announcement.

There are no changes to Oklahoma market speeds at this time.

I was told by a higher up. I don't want to bother him, and it was a couple months ago when he told me this. I guess plans have changed. =(

Just got off the phone with a rep (was checking out prices if I wanted to downgrade) and was told that "Speeds will be increased here in October"

Premier will be 20/2
Preferred 9/1

did not ask about lower tiers ....

no idea if the speeds she quoted are accurate or if it was just a retention tactic ... but she seemed quite happy to just put that info out there - so I'm guessing there is something coming down the lines here real soon.

those speeds are WITH powerboost. Without, Premier will be 15/1.5.

I already get over 20Mbps down when Powerboost is functioning. I was hitting 30Mbps last night for the first little while of a download from my Cox-connected dedicated server.

Yes, in optimal conditions powerboost will show some ridiculous speeds for a minute or so.
Unfortunately, in my neighborhood, we must have higher node utilization. I'm not so lucky.

I got the postcard about Cox working in my area. Then out of the clear blue sky I started getting major Cox horizontal hum bars. This was eliminated, by me, by using a Iso-Max VRD-1FF from Full Compass. I suspect Cox working on their lines and my sudden Cox hum bar problem may be related.

I'll cross my fingers... 1.5-2mbit upstream sounds wonderful! Every little bit I can get squeaked out my way makes my remote desktop performance better.

Something interesting about this is that one of my clients signed a contract with CBS over in Arkansas for 15/3 at $186 a month a few weeks ago.

Also, I was talking to a friend of mine with an ISP who said Cox had quoted him $400 a month for 10/10 over fiber.

I'd jump all over TRUE 15/3 for that price. But I'd guess it's mostly powerboost inflating those numbers.

That's supposedly the real speed. We'll see when they finish construction in a few weeks.

I'd be pretty happy with 10/10 for $400, personally.

Me like upload.

trust me, I'd rather have the 10/10 too, but that price is a bit steep for me. I'd be happy with the 15/3!!

400 bucks? for a 10/10 fiber connection? We pay around $2,000 a month for ours. He must have some connections.

I was also surprised when I heard that. It must be a promotional deal or something.

There was a small story in today's Oklahoman Business section stating that Cox is increaing HSI speeds later this month. They did not specify a date however. Preferred is going to 9 Mbps (12 Mbps w/PowerBoost) and Premier is going to 15 Mbps (20 Mbps w/PowerBoost).

Oh wow, that's tomorrow! Do I need to call them or does it just automatically kick in? I already have their current highest tier: 12/1.

It should happen automatically.

If you don't see it, try to restart your cable modem to pick up the new config file.
