Re: fios in west virginia anytime We should be seeing some sort of news in a couple of weeks or so on what is going to be taking place with VZ/Frontier. Some details will be released on what their plans are and what they have in mind. |

| reply to dhudson1984 All that the tech hires mean is that the PSC/PUC is requiring VZ to rehab the network before the sale to Frontier. VZ has been hiring techs here in WI, and the midwest as well to do just that. Once the rehab is done, and the sale goes thru, the new hires will just be laid off...along with all the "excess" workers Frontier will not retain. |

 | reply to jeff55 weird thing is they are going to hire newbies in as well and train them. i'm going to apply once they open it up. my contact told me to keep checking daily. the contract with vz is up here next year too. details on what is being planned is suppose to be released 2-4 weeks from now. |

 | reply to jeff55 i'll believe it when i see it. I hope att gets the northern panhandle instead of frontier. Frontier would push their dish network triple play like they do in princeton and bluefield instead of upgrading the network for fios or anything similar. |

 | reply to jeff55 Fibernet is great if you want to spend $ 500 a month to get FTTP. Myself,
I'm still stuck at TRG doing fios support for substandard pay. I know a few people who now work for CDI making better money. These include Rich, Kat, and Amy. |

 | reply to jeff55 will verizon upgrade any of west virginia before the transfer to frontier or is there any word of frontier upgrading to provide cable tv or faster internet? |

 | reply to jeff55 vzguy, will fibernet really run fttp? i emailed them to see if they could or would do this and they denied it. they don't offer dsl or phone in my area of charleston (campbells creek, just outside of charleston), but the lady did say that they could offer me a t1, but would it would have to be approved by her boss.
i have seen the techs hard at work on our rt for the past week. i went by one day and there were 4-5 trucks parked there and one of them appeared to be a fiber splicing truck that was backed on to it. not sure what they were doing to it. maybe adding more slots or upgrading it so that it can carry faster speeds in the future. |

 | Maybe I was wrong, I talked to a sales woman on the phone. She also mentioned DSL, I asked if it was using the same lines as Verizon, I think she said they operate out of the same CO. I didn't take their DSL, seeing as how my Verizon DSL would lose sync completely or download would spiral down to 32 kilobytes at times. AFAIK the CO is 20 blocks away. |
|
 | reply to jeff55 They do operate out of the same CO's. I believe they will run fttp to businesses only, but not residential. Are you out of the CO in Kanawha City? That is our local CO too, but since we're on the other side of the river (about 6 miles away), we are fed out of a RT for DSL. It has been rock solid for the 7 or so years that we have had it. I am on 3/768.
Hopefully someone will eventually be able to do fttp for residential customers soon. |
