 [FireFox] Restoring Bookmarks

I had FF v3.x on my computer. Backed up the bookmarks.html file from the profile folder from my user name.

Formatted the HDD, reinstalled Windows.

How do I get FF v3.0 to recognize my bookmarks?

Import them.

On the toolbar select:

Bookmarks - Organize Bookmarks

Next click Import & Backup on the Organize Bookmarks toolbar
and drop down to Import HTML and browse to the location of your backup.

Thank you!

I don't know why I hadn't seen that before. I was trying to figure out why File-->Import didn't work.

Thank you!

You are welcome Jeffrey.

Edit* As a side note when you want to make a backup of your bookmarks in Fx v3 series export the .html but as a precaution also open up your Fx Profile and copy the places.sqlite file.

places.sqlite supercedes bookmarks.html

You might want to try FoxMarks, it backs up and syncs your bookmarks online for free. Much easier than doing it manually. Plus if you use more than one computer they will all have the same data.

Thanks. I only really use my laptop, but I will check the link you gave me anyway. Thank you.

Fx makes backups of the bookmarks automatically and always keeps 7 days worth.

The backups are stored in the profile folder bookmarksbackup folder

The bookmark backup files in Fx v3 are named bookmarks(date).json
