As of this weekend, DK stood at $517,792,764 domestic and $449,100,00 for overseas , leaving it just over $33-million shy. It is still grossing in the top 10 domestically, and top 5 overseas. Another $33-million worldwide won't happen overnight, but another month should do it.

That also leads me to believe that they should be able to break Titanic's record (at least before you factor in inflation). The movie is still going strong, and there will likely be a surge around awards time.

I know what you're saying about fewer repeat customers. People were seeing Titanic over and over again, and I agree, I don't think DK will have those kind of legs. But Dark Knight got such a massive head start I think it will be able to pull it off. After 59 days in release, DK sits at the aforementioned $517,792,764, while Titanic was at $371,562,244.

Should be interesting to see how it finishes up.

If I compare Ironman and The Dark Knight, Ironman was far better of a film. Great writing, great acting, strong character development and fabulous wit. When you laughed, you really laughed - TDK received mere chuckles from me. As for Heath's portrayel of The Joker, it was good but was lacking a larger than life feel for me (something that Jack Nicholson nailed in the earlier films). All in all a decent film, but it left me disappointed for what it could have been.

For me, Ledger's performance is on par if not better than Nicholson's Joker.
nevertheless : Well, I guess I'm the dissenting voice here, even 'tho I don't think it was a bad movie, I didn't think it was a great movie either. That said, I will probably go see it again.

I'm also not sure why anyone would want to see this in IMAX, there's nothing in the movie that was all that visually stunning to warrant the need for a big screen. Apparently from all of those that enjoyed the Imax version, maybe the boring car chase scene might have been more interesting on the massive screen--but I doubt it.

Ledger did a good job portraying The Joker as it was written (not so sure about Oscar-worthy 'tho, as some say). I didn't find The Joker, as written, to be all that compelling or interesting. While some of the dialog was excellent and entertaining I didn't find all that there was enough meat in it to justify the praise that everyone's piling on.

Bale moved away from the mobile and flexible Batman and moved to a Keeton-esque stiff Batman (as well as a single dimensional Bruce Wayne), which was boring and annoying.

Morgan Freeman and Aaron Eckhardt's (Dent) characters were unnecessary and Dent's subplot should probably have been moved into it's own movie.

Plot wise, the movie was all over the place, it was overthought, overpacked, and overindulgant in some places, and woefully thin in others (there's this little thing literary people like to call 'character development', only Dent does it in this film).

I don't know who wrote the script, but they're clearly not familiar with the concept that a story has more to it than simply action and plot twists. I don't know about anyone else, but I started expecting a plot twist at every turn--and I wasn't disappointed (they would have received more of a reaction from me by the end if they HADN'T twisted).

As previously noted, there's really two movies in here, and I had hoped that people would have understood by now that adding more and more characters/bad guys into a superhero movie doesn't make it better.

On a final note, did anyone not find that Gary Oldman cast as Jim Gordan reminds them of Twitch from Spawn?

Oh, and on a final final note, it's amazing to me that they can evacuate 700 people off of the Titanic...I wonder how many you could get off of a ferry in 30 minutes...
--
Some people think I'm an idiot.
Deadpool : Has anyone else seen the film this weekend? Especially in IMAX?

Amazing film. Well executed, well edited. And although 2.5 hours long, the pace is very good and doesn't feel that long (at least to me). Great script and some very funny scenes.

Acting was good all around and Heath Ledger does stand out as the Joker. I do feel that even if he hadn't died, he would still be getting the amount of praise he is in regards to his performance.

I could easily re-watch this movie many times over.

Anyone else?
--
Disclaimer: If I express an opinion, it is my own opinion, not that of Bell or its related companies.
