| Best Linksys Cable Modem for Comcast HSI
Im signing up as a new sub for HSI and I want to use a linksys modem to go with all my other linksys equipment. I have a old BEFCMU10 v1 I think but I want to upgrade. What is the best modem to use here? A BEFCMU10ver 4.
Im just subscribing to the 4mbps service so I am not sur the v1 would not be sufficent. Opinions?
Thanks! |

| I started out using toshiba modems then switched to linksys befcmu10 v4. Recently I bought a linksys cm100 but switched back to the other one after a lightning strike just to rule out the modem as the source of my connection troubles. Either of those models will do you well and if space is a concern then the cm100 has a very small footprint and is wall mountable. |

| reply to WiCkeDuDe I've been using a BEFCMU10 v1.0 (it's DOCSIS 1.1) for 4 years and I've always gotten stability and the right speeds.
I have 6/1 service right now and do indeed get PowerBoost up to 3 MB/s and even uploads up to 200 KB/s for some unknown reason. (hey, I'm not gonna complain.) |

1 edit | reply to rwong48 The v1 ships with DOCSIS 1.0 firmware & Comcast does not upgrade it to 1.1
Some people confuse hardware version with model version.
This is the v1: »www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellit···74170B12 |

| reply to WiCkeDuDe Here in Utah I was quoted 52.95 for 4 mbps. Another person said this was 6mbps. If I had a cable tv service I would get a $10 bundle discount, which would make it $42.95 a month.
Basic cable and 6 mpbs for 59.99 a month in this package I was told. Doesnt help I get a different answer each time I call in. |

| reply to Johkal oh, my bad then. i just looked at hardware version in 192.168.100.1 since i was too lazy to go down to the modem (it's in an obscure place) and flip it over..
so i actually have a BEFCMU10 v3. hardware version 1.0, software 1.1.2.0.2, docsis 1.1. |
