Can't seem to use 2 displays simultaneously anymore

This is driving me INSANE. I don't understand how my option to use two displays simultaneously just disappears when I'm away from home for a week. I took my computer with me but I changed NO settings at all. I've tried almost everything to fix this.

- Tried reinstalling drivers
- Cleaning out drivers ENTIRELY, then reinstalling an older set to no avail
- Tried installing omega drivers, only to have them freeze at the end of installation
- Tried SYSTEM RESTORE

And get this. I can use the video card to output a display to my tv just fine...SEPARATELY. I can't use both displays at the same time anymore. What the hell broke? =/

I'm at the end of my wits here and I'm ready to pull the damn GFX 5200 agp card out and smash it up.

You might try pulling your video card an then putting it back in. Perhaps the contact alignment isn't exactly right.

I have a FX 5500 AGP card, and it will not present the two-display option unless both displays are hooked up and on. If you power it up with only one display then turn the other on, to get multiple displays you have to run a multiple display wizard and reboot. I'm not at the computer right now and can't remember where the multiple display wizard is but it's somewhere in the Nvidia menus possibly on the Start Menu rather than in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Tried running it and the application does pretty much....nothing.

I solved the problem by connecting the monitor to the second VGA port. I find it kind of odd though that this was the solution (or at least a temporary one).

where's the 2nd monitor? if you have 2 the system (not nvidia) does not see the 2nd one at all.

I found out what I did wrong. When I had setup the computer at my secondary location I had the monitor connected to the 2nd VGA port by accident. When I came back home I connected my monitor back onto the first VGA port and proceeded to connect my s-video cable as well. This is when I noticed I could no longer use VGA_1 and s-video output at the same time, but I could use either one of them separately. I tried reinstalling drivers, cleaning them, using older sets of drivers, and finally, system restore. Nothing worked. Out of curiousity, I connected the monitor onto the 2nd vga port, leaving the s-video cable intact, and wouldn't you know it...the options for clone, dual view, etc. were back.

I guess this was an error on my part but accidentally connecting my monitor to the secondary port shouldn't cause all of this.
