 [memory] Checking Memory (and PSU)

With a recent amount of video-car problems I've been having, a few have recommended that I check out my memory to make sure a module is not faulty--how could I go about doing this?

Also, in the same breath, they recommended checking out my PSU--I'm fairly sure it's fine, but I just want to be 100% positive on this matter.

I hate to RMA a graphics card a second time, only to find out I really need to RMA my PSU or a memory stick (or two).

Download the memtest .iso file and burn it to a CD, boot off the CD and let it run the test - you should let it run for multiple passes or overnite.

»www.memtest86.com/ (free download link on left)

As for the powersupply, the only real test is to try another one if you have one available.

how the windows memory tester? Is it accurate as well?

I treied out Memtest 3.4a (floppy), but it had a few issues; I'll have to try it again later on.

Get the version dbmaven posted the link for and burn to CD.

I personally don't trust anything other than Memtest for my trouble shooting.

I just tested with Microsoft's, and I used Memtest (made a bootable floppy) to check the memory....both came up negative, so that's good...now...is there any way to test a PSU unit without taking one out and putting another one it? the only thing I could thing of would be a Volt Meter.

For those without a volt meter or a desire to deal with the intricacies, there's something like this:
»www.google.com/search?q=Antec+AT···irefox-a

I presume you let memtest86+ run for several iterations/hours? If not, do so. Often times a flaky memory module will pass a single iteration, but start to fail after getting exercised for a while....

I only ran it once, since it ran for 6 times with Windows version; either way, I have a block of time that I'll be able to run it for quite a while with.
