They did, they added DRM support for BD - like they did with XP's COPP in SP2.

It's just the decoder thing you'd need. Same thing with DVD decoder for XP MCE - MCE will not support DVD playback until you install DVD decoder.

It's not like they are preventing you from watching it. Plus blu-ray support was new in 2006.

 That’s the first I have heard of it.

So by that logic all one would need to do is install a compliant Blu-ray decoder application and use a utility to assure that Vista Media Center uses the new decoder.

Again, I have never heard this before so I’m guessing that you are referring to the new Media Center TV Pack 2008.

Seattle, WA		 I thought I read in the last two weeks that MS dropped it from the upcoming update to Vista Media Center and that it was a marketing decision to withhold it so they could list it as a new feature in Windows 7.

They say the same thing about DirecTV and H.264 support. There are reports of H.264 functionality in earler Betas but it was pulled in RC0.
