[WotLK] New Mount and Vanity Pet Storage

from the EU forums
We’re pleased to announce a convenient upgrade to the way that mounts and vanity pets are handled in Wrath of the Lich King.

Players will be able to “learn” a mount or non-combat pet much like learning a spell, recipe, or new ability, and these creatures will then show up on a new Pet tab within the Character Info section of the interface. Players will be able to access and preview their learned mounts and vanity pets through this tab.

Once learned, the pet icon or mount icon will no longer appear in bag spaces or bank spaces. This inventory space will be made available once again for other adventuring needs. Pets can still be set to hotkeys by dragging them to the hotkey bar, much like any other spell or ability.

The one thing I like about Age of Conan was how they dealt with bag space. You had tabs for quest items and gathering resources , which didn't take up space in your main bags.

Nice! This probably will be more helpful to those folks that love to collect non-combat pets, like my GL. She's a fanatic when it comes to having every non-combat pet there is.

and along those lines....
a Blue post on the WoW forums about these exotic pets.

The developers are currently working on the exotic pet talent. Exotic pets are exactly that, exotic and not the average run of the mill pet. But whether this name will stick or not, is uncertain at this point. But these will be a range of new pets with unique abilities, that only those with the talent will be able to tame and train. Where do you get them, well, we've not got news on that right now -- perhaps somewhere, exotic!

These pets are different from normal pets, but they're not necessarily more "uber" than others. However they will have access to unique abilities not available to the normal pets that every Hunter can train. A Hunter with this talent will get extra power, but from the talent's associated additional pet talent points and not necessarily from the exotic pet.

Hearth Stone
4 stacks of food
4 stacks of Heavy Netherweave Bandages
1 stack Wound Poison
1 stack Crippling Poison
1 stack Instant Poison
1 stack Deadly Poison
Thiefs Tools
Mining Pick
Enchanting Rod
4 stacks (5 each) Super Healing Potion
1 stack of +40AP food
2 stacks of +20stam food
2 mounts
2 different weapon sets (daggers/swords/maces/fist)
5 slots worth of random Quest items
4 different trinkets

And some other random BS. I only have all Netherweave Bags, so really its not that much space at all.

Why do you need 4 stacks of food? 2 stacks should be plenty.

Why do you need to carry 4 stacks of bandages? 2 should be plenty

Why 4 stacks of Super Healing pots? Have an engineer make a healing potion injector...1 slot.

Why 2 stacks of +20 stam food? You can only have 1 food buff on you at a time.

Why you ask? Because I'm not 70 yet, and when I go out to grind a zone... I'm out there grinding for a long time, thats why.

Once I hit a new zone I grab all available quests I can get. For example, I'm currently 67 and in Nagrand. I hit up every quest giver in the whole zone and then follow them through completing them with QuestHelper, then its back to turn those quests in and receive their chains and rinse and repeat. I need my food and bandages because I go through a lot of them as a Combat Rogue, I take on multiple mobs a lot.

Running around completing every quest takes a bit of time and a lot of mobs to fight. That is why I carry that much with me. As far as the Potion Injector... I never get around to it. When I log on my priority ATM is to hit 70, that means work on quests in the zone in the fastest manner I can, get the daily PVP completed, then work on BS afterwards if time permits. I don't BS around when I log on... I want 70.

Oh and, yes... I'm fully aware I can only have 1 food buff on at any time. Thanks CPT.Obvious. My 2 stacks was a typo and should have been 1.

I always LOL when I ready about people and their bag space. Try being a lock who carries everything on themselves. 1 bag SLOT dedicated to nothing more then SHARDS!!!!!

OO I just wanna show my normal load. Im pretty anal about bag setup I place things in certain bags so I know where to look and since ur bags fill up from right to left, I store in left to right. From left to right the bags are:
Bag 1 SHARDS!!!!!!
Bag 2 Consumables/buff/pots
Bag 3 Alternate Armor set (I always keep my pve Set w/ me while I wear my pvp stuff yes I have 2 very different sets)

Hunter's have it even worse! Here's a screeny link from another post (not sure how to just link to an uploaded photo and have it show the image here): »/speak/slidesh···YXJ0PTIw

EDIT: Forgot to add that this screeny is old, but I bet you knew that when you looked at it!

For me it's:

Backpack:
-Row 1: Two stacks of pet food, vendor food/water for me
-Row 2: One stack of bandages, one stack of health pots, one stack of mana pots,
-Row 3: Two mounts...

Bag 2:
-Row 1: Mostly free
-Row 2: One stack of pet stat food, one stack of AGI buff food, one stack of AP buff food, underwater breathing "food" for farming
-Rows 3&4: Trinkets (yes I have a lot of trinkets ... PvE and PvP, crit/AP, etc.)

Bag 3:
-Row 1:
-Row 2:

Bag 4:
PvE/PvP gears

Bag 5: Quiver!

I forget some of the stuff I have, I'll try and post a screeny of my current when I get back to my room.
---
It was even worse back in my heavy raiding days with all the resist gears!

Try being a druid. Who spec's more than one way.

I frequently have zero bag space after getting 4 stacks of mage food.

I want to learn Sun Mote, Heart of Darkness, Nether Vortex, Tier token, Gnomish Flame Turret and 5000 gold.

I consider these to be my favourite pets, and I need to summon up to 8 at a time.

Only time I will use mana pots is in BGs and low on health. Otherwise, just life tap FTW.

BTW, I have the 28 slot Molten Core Shardbag, and 4 20 slot Netherweave bags. I have hardly any slots left, but I don't need a 28 slot bag. I'll wait for the WoTLK for the cheaper tailoring patterns to come out.

Do you mean Primal Mooncloth Bag? The biggest Netherweave bag is Imbued Netherweave Bag.

You get improved DPS if you use a mana pot over life tapping since you don't use a GCD.
