(external link - PDF file)<br><br>Montreal, May 29, 2008 - The Union of consumers and a consumer of Montreal, Myrna Raphael, asked the Superior Court to authorize a class action against Bell Canada on behalf of all consumers of Quebec subscribers, after October 27, 2007 , One of its Internet access services ADSL.<br><br>Bell Canada, which announced in promoting its Internet services, "a constant speed, always quick access, without frustrating delays, even at peak times" has developed its network since last fall, sly, device that deliberately slows, the rush hour, the speed of data transfer subscribers to the Internet.<br><br>To inspect users' data and manage Internet traffic, Bell uses a technology, Deep Packet Inspection (DPI), which affects the right to privacy of consumers who use Internet access services.<br><br>Myrna Raphael had in 2006 signed a contract for 3 years to take advantage of the high speed provided by Bell Canada. For this consumer like thousands of others, the constant speed access was decisive in his choice. Since Bell systematically apply its calming measures, Ms. Raphael and her husband can no longer in the evening, made on Internet activities for which she had subscribed.<br><br>The Consumers' Union asks the Court to declare illegal the practice of slowing the transfer of data and systematically applied unilaterally by Bell Canada to its hundreds of thousands of subscribers and order Bell Canada to repay to these consumers, who Bell n 'Not offer what they pay, 80% of their monthly subscription. <description><![CDATA[DjEclipse posted : This is great, finally we are able to hold Bell accountable for breaking my unlimited highspeed contract after only a few month's in, to a BS 60gig cap, without even telling me they were going to do it.. and then having the audacity to try and charge me a $100.00 cancellation fee AFTER THEY BROKE THEIR CONTRACT.<br><br>I hope Bell takes a huge hit because of this and a lot of people get fired.<br><br>So where do we sign up? My dispute is with Bell (for throttling me until I left for TekSavvy) for breaking the terms of the contract I had with them, among other transgressions.
