No you can't. If the tag has been expired for more than 8 months you have to go to the local tag office to renew it, it says so right on the renewal screen.

Was not till fairly recently that in Ohio you can go to any DMV and renew tags otherwise you had to go to any DMV in the county you lived in. Call the DMV - they will be able to tell oyu.

Already been to the website to see about renewing them. The site tells me that because the tag is more than 8 months overdue, that I have to go to my local tax collectors office (tag office) and renew my plate.

As for mail in, if you didn't renew it last year, they wont send you a card for renewing the following year.
