K1RA : Sounds pretty nice man about the new service unfortunately I don't have that option. I went ahead and got a new modem with cable telephone capability but my upload rates are still sub par. I actually made pretty good friends with the 2 installers that came by my house. I was like hey check out my upload rates. .and they were all like hmmmmmm that is weird.. but there is nothing we can do about it :P  We went to some different test sites they recommended other than this one and even on those im sub 384k..usually sub 256k.pathetic.. but however my DL rates are still good. So big ups for that suddenlink haha. It just means bit torrent and stuff like that is TEH SUCK for me.. seeing as how alot of people really like bit torrent I would strongly advise people against using suddenlink unless you have to like me.. IMO suddenlink would do well to be honest..people respect it. uncap people.. or put in writing. At least you would know that what you pay for you get rather than a hidden cap if you DL to much.
Hell I would pay more if I could get a faster upload rate! un---cap me! Note..I have new modem still slow ul rate. Trust me if my UL rates get better to the point that I get what is advertised.. I will post here about it.

DJBuzz24 : K1RA, at first I thought SL was throttling me based upon some cap, and Pete Abel confirmed as much. I was told by several SL people "off-the-record" that "excessive users" are "throttled" in order to be fair to other users in the area. Pete has gone on the record with the statement in a response to *my* SL review, which you should read if you haven't already.

However, over the last 6 weeks that I had the service the throttling never let up. I would get 256k the majority of the time and only burst to 1Mb speeds for 2-3mins at a time (all highly detailed here, just search for posts I've made). At the time I was paying for 1Mb service.

Since moving to CenturyTel DSL Pure (@10Mbx768) I've had wonderful service. If SinTel throttles excessive users, I can promise their caps are *much* higher than SL's.

At one point Pete said that my usage was "around 45GB downloaded monthly", which SL deemed "excessive". Since being with SinTel I am now able to rent, download, and enjoy HD movies from the XBLive Video Store and various other services. As I type, here's what my router's monthly traffic stats are for my WAN port for July....

July 2008 (Incoming: 73054 MB / Outgoing: 39610 MB)

Ha! And the month's not even over!
K1RA : Dude I am sorry but throttle you if you download too much during a month ????? WTF how can u be OK with that... what is too much .... some arbitrary limit they define ...I've never seen that &^%$ advertised. Plus I doubt that is the case prove it!!!!!!!!!!!! I will say this though... lol since I posted in this forum.. My dl speeds are better. So big ups to dslreports.com!!!! My upload speeds still suck tho.. sub 200 kbs atm.. with 8m dl rate.. Btw I know what a tracert is and I could care less about rapidshare cause its worthless.....and not a p2p service. Lol don't insult my intellect. I'm not getting packet loss. All I care about is bit torrent and P2P which rapidshare isn't. It's not a routing issue you idiot. So... um no your post didn't help.
I will say DL speeds with suddenlink atm are ok... nuff said.

abnormal69 : No they do not throttle any peer to peer ports. My speeds are terrific any time of the day. They will throttle you if you download too much during the month, but oh well. There have also been a ton of people on here complaining about the download speeds from rapidshare.com. That is not a Suddenlink issue people. Do a tracert and learn how to read it. It has NOTHING to do with a SL server. And to they guy saying that he recived a pop up on HIS computer from SL because he used his AOL too much, well actually I am just not going to say anything because that is just friggin hilarios. Sorry for the rant btw, but it kills me that people blame the ISP for every little thing when 99% of the time it is a box or routing issue Hope this helps.

K1RA : Something else I've noticed just so you know I'm not trying to flame you guys. Today I got around 7.7 mb dl from dallas which is the best ive seen but it is sunday morning everyone in this area is probably at church. My upload is still horrible tho like 174 kbs to dallas.. that seems low to me. My friend that has the next tier down of service from me gets 512 kb upload no probs.. I was testing at his house the other day. Im sure my line is fine. I would not get a good DL rate if it wasn't. I really would like a yes or no answer on the previous post though just curious more than anything. I will have to accept whatever I have here anyway as there is no alternative and I'm positive its not an issue with my system network or cables. Anyway thx for replying.

K1RA : Sorry man but uh..no. I have absolutely no faith in your ability to change policy at Suddenlink. IMO thats all this is.

Suddenlink’s CEO is on record saying they do indeed apply "traffic shaping" policies but do they trace their users' bandwidth usage and intervene directly in order to limit their transfer speeds?

The above is a quote from another thread on this site and its a good question. Id rather have you answer me directly right here in this forum. If it is the case... I doubt there is much your IT ppl can do to affect policy.

So yes or no? Does Suddenlink limit bandwidth based on the type of bandwidth usage?
