rwong48 : I got $19.99 internet only the very first time I bought it, which was when Comcast just installed itself into my neighborhood.. I think nowadays, it's a pretty rare occurrence to get $19.99 internet only.

Every time I sign up they have to roll out a truck to connect my house back to the network.. and disconnect my house when I terminate. For me, installation was $25.99 for cable TV (order it through Comcast, then order self-install internet through Comcastoffers) versus $60 for just internet (ordering it through Comcastoffers with no existing service.) Either way it's a good deal, but TV+Internet makes you pay less in the end, assuming the price for monthly service is similar to mine ($33 vs $13.08 + $19.99 + TV tax.)

tshirt : The idea is that if you already have cable, it can be a self install.
As a comcast reseller comcastoffers.com can only offer under terms comcast allows.
even if your house is cable ready, (wired, jacks where you want them, a drop from the pole in place) but no current service they still have to roll a truck, probably eating up the $130 discount they are offering.
circuitcity/bestbuy/etc. offer similar deals.
If you need an actual physical install work, you may get a better/similar deal by calling comcast directly, and seeing what they'll offer.
be sure a get the bottom line price (including and install, equipment, shipping, taxes and fees) as a quote from each.

rwong48 : Done it 3 times here. It's awesome. Got the rebate every time, cancelled shortly after so in the end, service doesn't really cost much.. to the point of it being practically immoral.. usually they give me another promo at the end of the initial 6 months, but nothing after that.

Remember the $19.99 price is for cable TV subscribers, otherwise it's $33 or something depending on your area. Basic Cable is $13.08 here and I am subscribing to that, so it almost evens out, except cable TV has a bit of tax.

I've found that installation is cheaper when installing for cable TV (instead of internet) too, since the technician doesn't have to touch your computer, I guess. I like it that way. :D this time around I just had the installer connect the TV and leave, and I self-installed internet right after.

j00k : Has anyone here signed up through these guys before? are they reliable? The deal seems very attractive (even too good to be true) compared to comcast's own and there seem to be many sites out there offering similar deals w/no mention of contract. i also checked under terms and conditions and didn't see contract mentioned anywhere other than the same "service must be activated for at least 30 days" in order to qualify. This one out of the bunch appears to be the best.

- first 6 month $19.99/month, $42.95 there after
- cable modem free after MIR
- $150 cash back after MIR
- no mention of contract commitment
