I cancelled my AT&T POTS because they couldn't keep the lines working. I had to call every few weeks when the dial tone stopped again.

Since then they've kept sending me ads for their DSL and wireless. Why would I commit to a long contract with a company that can't or won't even maintain its own infrastructure?

A well-run organization without a duoplolist's arrogance would notice my long series of repair requests and at least promise to address those kinds of problems, if they wanted me back. They might even realize this is one reason people are leaving, and maybe even do something about it.

Sadly at$t has been having some surprising problems again, they had cleaned up their service for awhile but now with no competition they seem to becoming lazy again.
