I can't find the option anywhere in the configuration management.

It has nothing to do with your (or your 2700HG's) physical location Certain submodels of the 2700HG (and presumably 2701HG as well) lack MAC filtering settings.

Why do you want to turn it on? In addition to being a terrible pain in the arse to manage the list of valid MAC addresses, it is also relatively easy for an intruder to sniff out the MAC addresses on your network and then to spoof them. WPA encryption is far more secure and a lot easier to manage.

Agreed , Like Nanook said some models will be lacking MAC address filtering (due to shipped firmware revision on that particular model). If your gateway is running 5.29.x I would recommend setting up WPA2 authentication with AES encryption as long as your adapters and OS support it.
