There are still many users out there who prefer text based message boards like one finds on the USENET. I see advantages to both. The ones you seem to be thinking of are WAREZ and Binary Newsgroups. There is so much more out there than that. You really need to get your head out of the sand. Usenet is still where I get alot of my PC building help. Because most usenet users are of the "techie" bunch, I find it to be of a great asset. Hell, I still use FidoNet.
