Have any of you people shot with one of these light diffusers? It is a Gary Fong product called a Lightsphere2. I shoot lots of real estate interiors and sometimes I have to use flash and I have always hated it because of the nasty shadows and stark look it gives pictures. I was talking to a young guy in one of the photography shops in Wichita KS and he suggested I try this thing. I have to admit it is a bit goofy looking but does it ever do a nice job of evenly lighting up a room. Maybe the best $40.00 I have ever spent on photo gear.

I've been wondering about these myself. I see them all the time on youtube and online tutorials and such. I've been wondering how they really stack up. My first impression was that it was being marketed as a "swiss army knife" of flash modifiers that could do everything and make coffee at the end.

I was wondering if it's all hoopla or if it's truly that decent. I'm still kinda partial to my home made diffusers and modifiers and don't think there is a "one thing does it all" solution as these guys kinda preach.

I would think though for real estate and just generally lighting a room with limited equipment they would perform amazingly... And of course the main factor in anything photography is as long as it works for YOU

They are quite popular but like most camera accessories, over priced. Even the Sto-Fen diffusers which, IMHO, are just as good, are overpriced at $20. No question they do a great job.

Give it a while and the milk jug touts will chime in .

I still use the original lightsphere and it works great in certain conditions. I got over all the "why do you have tupperware on your flash" questions years ago. The newer lightspheres are probably even better than the one I have.

I have a knockoff of that called a lambency diffuser. Pretty much the same thing, except half the price.

Other then that I've also used a sto-fen omni-bounce and bounce cards (index card or thin white foam material).

Ditto! Good news is, you can get a Sto-Fen knock off from one of the China sellers (works just as well since it is identical..lol) for like ~$12 shipped.

I posted mine here but no one cared about it...

I really don't use mine.. it's clumsy and sucks up a lot of flash power.

Try a milk jug cut to fit over your flash and see what happens.

And I say this after having bout the $120 Lightsphere set.
