If 1.0.4 is not an absolute necessity, then I'd say give 1.0.2 a shot. Be sure to uninstall 1.0.4 first, and double-check to make sure the files got deleted. If you want to be really thorough, check the registry as that's where the settings are kept, unfortunately. Heck, if you want to be that geeky about it, try changing the settings directly in the registry before switching versions. Be sure to reboot, of course.
Note the security update for the viewer is available as a separate download, so you needn't worry about that, and if you only use VNC inside your own lan and never VNC to anything else or run viewer in listening mode, you really needn't worry in any case.
