Few months back, I had freeswitch-1.0.0 smoothly compiled on my OpenWRT SVN trunk with no patches. Now, v1.0.1 has been released. Let's see what we can do about it, i.e. port it to WRTP54G, PAP2v2, VTA-VR?

why did I know that if I posted something with the word "free" in it, that you would show up?

The thing FreeSwitch needs most is a GUI front-end. Programming in XML is not everyone's cup of tea...

I see HUGE potential for this project if someone (like FreePBX) will develop a GUI for it.

On a Linux machine, I am sure you can use kxmleditor to edit your XML file.

If anyone can survive without an asterisk GUI, I believe FreeSwitch with no GUI makes no difference.

I'm not sure how all this open source DIY stuff works, but take a look at this notice ... I think this might be what you're after ... »www.fiercevoip.com/story/freeswi···08-08-05

I'm a software developer who specializes in open source telephony applications, and I've just finished my second FreeSwitch application for clients of mine. Apart from a lack of accurate documentation, it's a pleasure to work with; well designed and seems very stable. It can support many more concurrent calls than Asterisk. One of the best features is it's ability to allow a whole host of other open source applications to plug into it, like Pocket Sphinx, Speex, port audio, etc.

This is interesting stuff. I saw somewhere where Mark Spencer was defending Asterisk, saying the performance claims against Freeswitch were overblown and unfair.

Even the PIAF guys have toyed with Freeswitch, apparently mostly as a veiled threat to keep Digium honest.

It is certainly interesting to see the head of steam generated by Freeswitch as it takes mindshare...
