| Thumbs up for Acanac
Hi,
This will be my first month review of the Acanac service.
First of wall, I think it is important to say that I'm a 3rd level computer technician, which mean I don't ask for a lot of support from the CSR.
I discovered Acanac via the redflagdeals forums, but since I was too far from the CO from my last appartment I wasn't able to register with Acanac until I recently moved in a medium density area.
The registration was hassle free via their web site. The modem arrived really fast (about 2 days). The dry loop was installed 2 days later than the Bell scheduled date (not acanac fault) but I was lucky I didn't need to stay at home to be connected. Still, it was really fast.
My first speeds were about 4000/500 which was ok but not 5k/800 so I sent a ticket to Ananac. Their ticketing system is like the one of online retailers like NCIX. As a french speaker, I really appreciate the ticketing system because I can more clearly express my ideas than via the phone. So I sent a ticket at about 2 o'clock and got a reply like 5 minutes later. I reseted my modem and I got 5000/700, perfect speed.
I also registered on their forum. I think that having a web forum for an ISP is really a great idea, and surprisingly the moderation is really fair. I found infos on how to use their online computer with my favorite torrent client and it worked really well. The whole online computer idea is brillant from my POV.
So far you're going to say "does this guy work for them" ? No, it's just that I want to balance with all the bad reviews of Acanac because I think they are not all justified.
I think honestly the biggest problem of Acanac so far is not on the side of their customers support, nor of the quality of the service.
No I think on of Acanac problem is PR (public relation). Like any company there's probably a little minority of clients that try to abuse. The sad thing is..one unsatisfied customer can do a lot of damage to your reputation even if he's wrong. But to avoid these damage you often need to take the loss and pass to something else. But Acanac seems to fight back and they are probably right but it damage their reputation. And these fights result in bad reviews or comments even if it represent only a small minority of their users.
So does Acanac's good? Yes, absolutely. And they give me the impression of willing to improve their service. Been able to talk to Paul on this forum is a great exemple. They seems to listen their customers, a thing that very few company still does.
Recommended.
PS : The only problem I've got technically speaking so far are the pings, but I'm working with their CSR to get this improved. Currently 53ms, (excellent for about everybody but a bit high for a gamer). |
