| Rain Rain, I may be going away
I have had the Verizon DSL (1500kbps plan) for a few years now. Something keeps going bad in heavy rain. It gradually get worse and worse until they eventually fix it (usually after multiple tech support calls to India). It is worth trying to get the service technician on the phone if you can- it takes a while to get there though. They WILL NOT send out a repair tech if the speed being delivered is greater than 50% (of 1500kbps in my case). This rain thing has happened 2-3 times in 2-3 years now. It is frustrating. I'm considering switching to Comcast. Verizon is great when it works, but it is the most flaky and unreliable thing when it starts to have issues. The tech support process is completely unchanged in the last few years- except for the India thing, and it is now and always has been a horrible experience to use it. They keep pushing their FIOS thing- but it costs too much and is too new I think. Nobody I know needs that kind of speed or is willing to pay that much for it. Go figure. |

| I agree it is great when it works, up until late may i had no problems and was very happy. They (tech support) was able to run several line tests when the actual problem was happening. However they continued to run them so after it stopped raining it tested out fine. 2 technicians came out 2 weeks apart, and after the last tech told me it's working so "If it ain't broke i can't fix it". Well that was the straw that broke the camels back. I think 7 weeks 6 calls to tech support and 2 techs visiting was ample opportunities on their behalf to solve the problem.
You are right about tech support in India, can barely understand them. They read exactly from the script. Do not know their own system etc. Every call was at least 30 mins and each one was more painful than the last. Several times i asked to talk to someone who would be working on the problem so i could explain it to them but was denied. |
