Social Networking Attack?

What would somebody be after that knew my more or less public gmail address by trying to gain access to a Facebook or Myspace account?

I had e-mail in my gmail accounts stating from both sites that I had requested my password be sent or reset. I cancelled my Myspace account (never used it). Have no idea what someone would have to gain by this.

I had one from MySpace too, last week. Fortunately, my ISP had filtered it out already into Spam. Spam is Spam and any info someone can gain I suppose could be used to post things that were not true, to post as if they were you. Why? Who knows why people do Spamming any time. I don't even have a MySpace account, but I guarantee, had I opened that email, all kinds of bells and whistles would have been sounded back at ye olde spammer's IP.

It could be a case of someone who has an issue with you.

A few years back I started getting email from various sites, that I supposedly opened accounts with, including adult sites. The accounts were in my actual name. I believe I know who did it, because of a circumstance just prior to it, but I would never be able to prove it. Maybe they just want to be a pain in your a$$.

Revenge, Jealousy, Spite, or any other reason that a person who knows you or knows of you that is not happy and is trying to make things complicated for you or to embarrass you. Is there anyone that you may have made mad or upset with or at you recently?
