Yes they check the levels with their fancy gizmo. It seems to me that the hard drives have bad sectors on them. |

| Every time I get sick of not being able to watch a recorded program, which is now. Because the screen will go blank and the box will lock up as it tries to deal with the bad sector on the hard drive. I have to alternate between stop and play several times before the box will move beyond the bad track and I can watch for a few more minutes before it happens again. I have to rearrange my schedule to make time to meet the Comcast tech at my home. When I call to schedule the appointment. The voice on the phone always recommends that I return the box myself to a "local" Comcast office. Except my "local" office does not deal with swapping equipment. They only want checks. The nearest office that accepts equipment is miles away in a bad neighborhood.
Besides, I get a wee bit of satisfaction knowing it costs Comcast money to send a tech to my house. |

| So they've given you the solution and you don't want to do it. That's fine, but then stop complaining. And it's not costing Comcast money to some to your house. It is costing all the subscribers including you and I. Thanks a bunch. As I said, I've always gone to an office, and I've always gotten a brand new box with no problems. If the neighborood was really that bad, Comcast wouldn't have an office there due to risk of burglary and robbery. |
