| Erratic Download Speed: HELP !!
I have AT&T Yahoo DSL 3.0 Pro Pkge. I am located in Oak Park, IL.
I have a Motorola Speedstream 2210 which I have changed 3X. I am not able to run it at the 3.0 speed without it becoming unstable. I have been at the Tier 3 level after MANY hours on the phone with no change or solution.
When I run at 1.69 Down my speed is constant with a Max Delay around 100ms and a QOS around 99%. When I run at 3.0 down my speed fluctuates from 75K to apx 2.5mp I show max delay up to 500+ms. This wrecks my QOS which drops down to 4%. This happens anytime day or night. I can get a great reading followed by a bad one. Of course they tell me it's perfect from their side. They have replaced everything on their end they say. I am within 3,500 ft of the CO. This has been going whenever I try to get my 3.0 speed.
Of course a tech has been out and I am told I have one of the best lines they have seen. Everything checks out. They have replaced the port on their side and I have a whole house splitter at the NID and Cat-5 direct to the modem which did not help.
1. Why is my speed solid at the 1.69 but goes to crap when they increase it to 3.0?
2. What can I do to get my 3.0 speed stable?
3. Should I forget it and just go down to 1.69?
UPDATE: AFTER GOING AROUND AND AROUND WITH AT&T. 12 TECH's at Top Tier 3. I finally got them to change the router on THEIR end where the DSL goes out from their network to the Internet. SUPRISE. Now my Signal is excellent and very stable and my QOS is 99% and my max delay is down to 44 - 200ms but much lower. Key is I now have my QOS and can use my VOIP.
