Why is Teksavvy not available to me?

My roommate's mother just got off the phone and for some reason Teksavvy internet is not available to me. I live not even a kilometer from Algonquin COllege.

check your phone number at bell.ca. if its not available there then its not available to teksavvy.

I do not currently have a phone number.

Edit: I do not know my future address but I just put in Algonquin College's and it says it does not know if it is available. I find it extremely unlikely that the area I'm going to be living in does not have Bell service.

you might be forced to use the "on campus" provider if that's where you're living.

Call in to the teksavvy support and ask them, give them address details, etc.

Well, apparently, only the 512 service is available to me. Why would this be?

This is near where I live and it's almost a dead area for DSL. There's only two central offices around here, you're probably being served from the same one I am. I can barely get 2 megs.

»findaperson.canada-411.ca/reverse_address

i used it to find an old number my house used to have before i moved in. worked good.

Well, I am not being served yet because I do not live there yet but my roommate was told that only 512 service was available there.

Funny I just posed in the direct forums the other day to check on this area, I'm moving there in a few weeks. One of the TSI guys checked several lines in my building (as I don't know the exact address) and said 512 was probably the best I could get

Even with two lines that would suck pretty bad, and I think the only other option in the area would be Rogers. Rogers who have hard caps and throttle worse than Bell from what I hear (tho it may vary).

If you find anything more out, post it here, I'd be glad to have some more options.

Just out of curiosity is your building on Baseline Road?

So, is this just due to line quality or is it something else?

Distance mainly, 5 km max to the CO so the farther you are the slower the speed. No plans for expansions either.

I tried them years ago. When I had them it went down at least once a month and I never got the advertised speed. I'm not sure if they're any better now but I know they've had to expand and upgrade because pretty much everyone uses Rogers around here. There is also 3web for cable but their service isn't too good support wise.
